Pat Murray studied the oboe with Peter Healy (RTE Concert Orchestra) and later at the Conservatoire de Lorient with Christian Moreaux (Orchestre National de France, Opéra de Paris and many others). He completed further studies in the UK with Graeme Adams (English Symphony Orchestra) and Dario Golcic (Croatian Radio Philharmonic). He has also studied oboe reed making with Michael Winfield (London Symphony Orchestra) amongst various others over the years.
At the Conservatoire de Lorient he obtained a Médaille d’Or for oboe and chamber music in the final examinations and also holds an ATCL in oboe performance. He is the recipient of a deuxieme prix in the Concours Européen de Musique en Picardie and a first prize winner for senior oboe in the Feis Ceoil in Dublin. He has performed with various orchestras and ensembles which include Orchestre de Chambre de Vannes, Orchestra of the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Orchestre de Jeunnesses musicales de Suisse, Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Philharmonic and Limerick Philharmonic amongst others. Currently he plays regularly with WSO, various groups in the Midlands and occasionally in Ireland.
